Aerosmith will release their first new music in more than a decade this week when they drop “My Only Angel,” the first single from their upcoming collaborative EP with British singer Yungblud. The team-up from the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers and the “Zombie” rager will drop on Friday (Sept. 19), followed by a five-track EP, One More Time, due out on Nov. 21.
Yungblud, 28, took to his socials on Wednesday (Sept. 17) to announce the EP, writing, “Long live rock n roll music. Love forever, Aerosmith and Yungblud.” The accompanying post featured a variation on the classic Aerosmith winged logo, with the veteran rock band’s name replaced by a skull.
In a brief preview clip of the song posted by both bands earlier this week, Yungblud and Aerosmith vocalist Steven Tyler can be seen squeezing together around a single microphone, singing, “Will you cry if I called you my angel/ Gotta leave, gotta leave, gotta leave you one more time,” with Yungblud planting a kiss on Tyler’s cheek at the end. “Nice! Good!” an elated, laughing Tyler proclaims. “F–kin’ a!,” he adds as Yungblud affirms, “f–kin’ great, man.”
The track list for the EP includes the kick-off first single, as well as “Problems,” “Wild Woman,” “A Thousand Days” and a 2025 mix of Aerosmith’s 1977 single “Back in the Saddle,” which peaked at No. 38 on the Billboard Hot 100 nearly 50 years ago. At press time the promotional materials only include images and video of band co-founders Tyler and guitarist Joe Perry, with no information at press time if Aerosmith bassist Tom Hamilton, drummer Joey Kramer or guitarist Bard Whitford will be involved in the project; a spokesperson for the band had not returned Billboard‘s request for comment on whether the latter were involved in the project.
The EP comes after Tyler and Perry joined Yungblud — as well as Extreme’s Nuno Bettencourt — for an emotional Ozzy Osbourne tribute at the 2025 MTV VMAs earlier this month. Wearing a golden cross chain gifted to him by the late heavy metal icon, Yungblud rocked the stage alongside Perry and Tyler for a moving cover of Ozzy’s lone top 40 solo single (No. 28 on the Billboard Hot 100) the moving ballad “Mama, I’m Coming Home,” with the two vocalists taking turns singing lead and then joining forces to bring it all home.
Both Yungblud and the Aerosmith rockers were also on hand for Osbourne’s final concert, the July 5th all-star Back to the Beginning show in Ozzy’s native Birmingham, England; Osbourne died a few weeks later on July 22 at age 76 of cardiac arrest. While the timeline for the EP is unclear, last week both Yungblud and Aerosmith posted a video of Tyler and Yungblud sharing a big hug and chanting “we’ve got a secret and nobody knows it!” to each other ecstatically.
Yungblud released his fourth studio album, Idols, in June, while Aerosmith have not issued a studio album of new material since 2012’s Music From Another Dimension!, their first album of all-new songs since 2001’s Just Push Play. Aerosmith retired from touring in 2024 due to Tyler suffering a fractured larynx, with Perry recently saying their live performance future is up in the air.
“I would bet that there’s an Aerosmith show left,” Perry said in August. “He [Tyler] just doesn’t want to tour and he can’t tour. It’s tough. I’m not sure I would want to go out and book another 40-city tour. It’s a long way to the top and staying there takes it out of you, especially an Aerosmith tour.”
